Kushinagar. Vishunpura police station of Kushinagar district and the joint team of Taryasujan and Kotwali Padrauna had an encounter with two cow smugglers riding a pickup in the early hours of Saturday. In this, a smuggler was shot in the leg. The police caught both of them. At four in the morning, police received information that cow smugglers were present in a pickup on the track of Gandak canal in front of Gagalwa village in Vishunpura area, who were going towards Bihar for slaughtering cows. The team reached there within no time.
Smugglers opened fire on the police team
As soon as they saw the police, two cow smugglers ran away towards the bushes on the banks of the canal. When the police chased, the cow smugglers opened fire. In police retaliation, a smuggler was shot in his right leg. The police laid siege and caught both the smugglers.
Weapons for slaughtering animals, pistol, cartridges, a large piece of wood etc. were recovered from the possession of smugglers. A kiosk was also found from the spot. The police were searching for both the smugglers for a long time. These smugglers are wanted by Patherwa police station. Six cows were found on the pickup.
SP Dhawal Jaiswal said that the joint team has caught two cow smugglers in the encounter, who were wanted for a long time. The injured cow smuggler is undergoing treatment in the district hospital. The team included Taryasujan in-charge inspector Amit Sharma, Kotwali Padrauna in-charge inspector Rajprakash Singh, Vishunpura in-charge inspector Ramsahay Chauhan etc.
