Lucknow: Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar and Deputy Chief Minister Tejashwi Yadav reached Lucknow on Monday, trying to unite opposition parties to oust the BJP from power in the 2024 Lok Sabha elections. He met SP President Akhilesh Yadav. After this meeting, Nitish Kumar said that if the opposition parties fight the elections together, it will be beneficial and in the interest of the country.
In a joint press conference with Akhilesh at the SP state office, Nitish targeted the BJP government at the Centre. Said that all of us will unite against those who are adopting various tactics to rule today, harassing the leaders of the opposition.
I do not want to become the Prime Minister: Nitish
On the question of opposition unity and becoming the Prime Minister, he said, when everyone is united, then we will sit and decide who should become the leader. One thing I want to make clear that I do not want to become the Prime Minister. I will work in the interest of the country.
Taking a jibe at the central government, Nitish Kumar said that everyone knows what is happening in the country today. Only propaganda is being done among the public. Today we also met Akhilesh Yadav regarding opposition unity. The same thing has happened to them as to how we all should work together. If all of us fight elections together in the whole country, then there will be good benefit in the interest of the country and it will get freedom from BJP. BJP is engaged in changing the history of the country. He said that we have a deep connection with UP. We are also socialists and have an old relationship with socialists.

SP President Akhilesh said that we are all together to save democracy. We all will work unitedly to save the country from BJP. Democracy and the Constitution are in danger at this time. Farmers, poor and laborers are troubled due to the wrong economic policies of the BJP government. Inflation and unemployment are at peak. We stand together to remove BJP from power.
