Agra: Police raided a house in Mirchpura village of Kheragarh on information about a stockpile of explosives. There, 242 kg of explosives and 421 detonators were recovered hidden under the bed in a room. Seeing such a huge amount of explosives, even the police were shocked.
Bomb disposal squad and fire brigade were called to the spot. After which the recovery process could be started. If gunpowder and detonators had exploded, the whole village would have been blown away. Hundreds of villagers could have lost their lives. Three accused including the landlord have been arrested from the spot.
Deputy Commissioner of Police Sonam Kumar said that station head Kheragarh Rajeev Kumar had received information about the accumulation of a large amount of explosives in a house in Mirchpura village. On Tuesday night, a joint team of police, bomb disposal squad and fire brigade, led by Assistant Commissioner of Police Piyushkant Rai, conducted the raid. Apart from the landlord Bantu, Kishan Singh and Prem Singh were arrested from the spot.
The accused told during interrogation that the explosives were used to break the Aravalli hills. The recovered explosives and detonators were procured from Bayana Bharatpur (Rajasthan). According to the police, the accused used to sell explosives and detonators to local stone miners on the hills.
After breaking the hills, the miners transport the stone pieces from the mines to the crushers located in Rajasthan with the help of big poklen and other machines. Which is sold in small pieces. The police sent all the three accused to jail on Wednesday.
It was recovered
- Two and a half packets Slurry Explosive Class 02ZZ, 6.95 kg
- Ammonium Phosphate, 140 Kg
- Black Granular Mixture Explosive, 95 Kg
- Safety Fuses, 10 Bundles
- Red Color Detonating Card, Two Bundles
- Detonator Non Electric, 421 Nos.
- The whole village’s destruction material was kept in the house
Bantu had kept the whole village’s destruction material under the bed in the room of his house without any special protection. Gunpowder, safety fuse, detonator and other explosives including ammonium phosphate were kept at the same place.
Ammonium phosphate acts to increase the intensity of the explosion. According to the police, a safety fuse is fitted in a detonator to break the stone by exploding the hill. After which about two kilograms of explosives are kept on it.
The explosion is caused by setting fire to the safety fuse. One detonator and one kilogram of explosive material can turn an entire house into rubble. If for some reason the detonator was explosive in Bantu’s house, it would have been completely destroyed. Mirchpura village has more than 250 houses. Its population is more than one thousand. Bantu’s house is in the middle of the village.
This is how to place the detonator
According to the police, there is a possibility of explosion when the prescribed pressure and energy are received in the detonator. There is also a way to hold the detonator rod. One hand should be kept on the ground while holding it. So that the detonator does not get the necessary energy. While 421 rods of the detonator were kept in the same way in Bantu’s house.
Explosives will be disposed of under the supervision of the bomb disposal squad.
According to the police, the explosive would be defused under the supervision of the bomb disposal squad. For its disposal, the police will present an application in the court on Thursday. Will be disposed of after receiving the order from there.
