New Delhi. In Test cricket, England’s fast bowler James Anderson sets some record whenever he comes to play the match. In the second match of the Test series being played against South Africa, he did such a feat which no other cricketer had done before. Indian legend Sachin Tendulkar, the king of centuries, could not even complete such a century in Tests, which Anderson completed on Thursday.
The second match of the three-Test series being played against South Africa began on Thursday, 25 August. In this match, South Africa won the toss and decided to bat first. England broke the back of the visiting team on the back of the deadly bowling of experienced pair James Anderson and Stuart Broad. Captain Ben Stokes also made a splash for the team.
Anderson made a new record
England’s veteran fast bowler Anderson made a new record as soon as he took the field in the second Test match against South Africa. He became the first player in the world to play 100 Tests at his home. In the list of players who have played the most Test matches at home, Indian legend Sachin is at number two after playing 94 matches. Former Australia captain Ricky Ponting, who played 92 Tests at home, comes at number three. England’s Broad has played 91 matches and former English captain Alastair Cook has 89 matches to his name.
Most test matches
The record of playing the most Test matches in the world is recorded in the name of Sachin. In a career spanning more than two decades, he played 200 Test matches. James Anderson is second in this list with 174 matches. Former Australia captain Steve Waugh and Ricky Ponting, who played 168 Test matches, are at number three. Former South African all-rounder Jacques Kallis played 166 Test matches.
