Greater Noida. The journey of Yamuna Expressway is going to be expensive from September 1. In the 74th meeting of the Yamuna Authority Board, Jaypee Infratech’s proposal to hike toll rates on Yamuna Expressway has been approved.
If you are currently going from Greater Noida to Agra via Yamuna Expressway by car, then now you have to pay a toll of Rs 415, but from September 1, you will have to pay a toll tax of Rs 431.50.
Rent will increase in vehicles
In the new rates, the charges for two wheelers and tractors will remain the same. There has been an increase of 10 paise to Re 1 5 paise per kilometer for different categories of vehicles. With the implementation of the new rates, the fare in passenger vehicles passing through the expressway is also set to increase.
Jaypee Infratech, which operates the Yamuna Expressway, had in February proposed a hike in toll rates for 2022-23, but the decision was not taken due to non-completion of work on suggestions from IIT Delhi.
About 30 thousand vehicles pass through the expressway every day
The Board of Authority has given its approval to the proposal of toll hike in the 74th meeting. The distance from zero point to Agra is 165 kms. Let us tell you that about 30 thousand vehicles pass through the expressway every day.
Authority CEO Dr. Arunveer Singh said that from September 1, the new rates will be applicable. A safety audit was conducted from IIT Delhi to prevent accidents on the expressway.
IIT had made several suggestions including installation of crash beam barriers on both sides of the space between the two roads on the expressway, rumble strip, speed gun, making the challan system effective. Work on most of the suggestions has been completed. Therefore the proposal for toll tax hike has been accepted.
