Hyderabad: Many Bollywood celebrities have openly supported Operation Sindoor, launched by India in response to the Pahalgam terror attack. However, Indian cinema has been highlighting the history of the military through its films. Films have always taken inspiration from the country’s military history and presented real-life battles to the people through cinema. Films like Uri: The Surgical Strike, Shershaah have shown how national security stories can touch the hearts of the audience and make a splash at the box office. After these events, now, a new operation is ready to join it. The name of this new operation is – Operation Sindoor.
BN Tiwari, President of Federation of Western India Cine Employees (FWICE), told a media that, after India carried out precision strikes on terrorist camps in Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Kashmir in response to the Pahalgam terror attack on April 22, many producers have applied for the Operation Sindoor title.
He told that about 15 film makers and studios have filled their applications with the Indian Motion Picture Producers Association to acquire this title. It is common in the film industry to acquire such titles.
A media questioned film maker Ashok Pandit about the registration of the title ‘Operation Sindoor’. On this Ashok Pandit said, ‘Yes, I have also applied for registration for the title of Operation Sindoor. Whether a film will be made on this or not is still far away, but as film makers and producers, we often do titus registration when something interesting happens. This is the first and important step for any film maker, because without the title, you cannot even start planning the film.’
He said, ‘Those who have registered for the title have done so after the incident happened. This does not mean that they will all make the film, but registering gives them the option to take it further. I am very well aware of this subject. I know what this country has suffered, we have been fighting this battle as victims for 30-35 years. So I know the integrity of this terrorist country. This is a very important subject for me, because I have been a direct victim due to Pakistan. We have suffered the most horrific massacre at their hands.’
Ashok further said, ‘Whenever there is a big national incident, film producers come forward to stake their claim on the title of that incident. Whether a film is made on it or not, but they keep the title of that incident safe. For this, they also get it registered. However, after the success of films like ‘Uri’, ‘War’, ‘Fighter’, film makers have understood that films made on war are still liked by a people. So they know that someday a film will also be made on Operation Sindoor, for which they would like to work on it.’
According to media reports, Mahavir Jain’s company is leading the race to get the title of Operation Sindoor, which was the first to register this title in its name. Apart from this, Ashok Pandit, film maker Madhur Bhandarkar and studios like T-Series, Zee Studio have also applied for it.
