Punjab Chief Minister Captain Amarinder Singh said on Wednesday that further restrictions would be imposed if the situation in Corona in Punjab does not improve by next week. During a virtual meeting with senior health, administrative and police officials, the Chief Minister said that the situation would be reviewed on April 8.
If there is no improvement, more restrictions will have to be imposed. Emphasizing rapid vaccination, the Captain instructed the officers to reach out to the people at the Mohalla level in the badly affected districts of Kovid. In badly affected Mohali, Ludhiana, Jalandhar and Amritsar, Kovid rules should also be strictly followed. Noting the problems of the people, the Chief Minister on Saturday ordered an end to the one-hour silence for the Kovid warriors.
Captain expressed concern over high death rate
Capt Amarinder Singh on Wednesday expressed concern over the high death rate due to Kovid in Punjab. On this, the chairman of the state’s committee of Kovid experts, Dr. Talwar said that patients in the state do not go to the hospital on time and there is also a high rate of co-morbidities. Eighty to 85 percent of the patients who die are with critical illness.
The Chief Minister directed the administration to develop a robust system for taking other diseases to the hospital as soon as possible and for strict monitoring of detention of people in their homes. He has once again appealed to all religious and political leaders to encourage people to follow the Kovid rules.
Dr. KK Talwar said that more restrictions are required to be imposed in such urban areas where more cases are coming up. At the same time, DGP Dinkar Gupta said that since March 19, RT-PCR tests of 1.30 lakh people wearing masks were done, out of which 391 positives have been found. He said that more cases were coming up in Mohali, Kapurthala, Patiala, Nawanshahar, Jalandhar, Amritsar, Hoshiarpur and Ludhiana.
