new Delhi. The Union Health Ministry asked the Ministry of External Affairs to consider contacting India Biotech for the purchase of 8.1 lakh doses of cocaine, so that vaccines could be given to various countries in good faith.
According to an Accessed Office Memorandum, Secretary to Government G.K. Pillai gave this indication in a meeting between the Secretary and the Foreign Secretary of the Pharmaceutical Department.
In this regard, it is to inform that Bharat Biotech Limited is providing a total of one crore doses of this vaccine to the Ministry of Health for the ongoing Kovid-19 vaccination campaign, it said in the memorandum of office. The cost of the vaccine is Rs 295 per dose including GST.
It said that the Ministry of External Affairs would consider contacting India Biotech to procure 8.1 lakh doses of this vaccine.
The Secretary said that keeping in mind the priorities of the ongoing vaccination campaign in India, the dosage of the dose should be purchased from India Biotech by the Ministry of External Affairs only after January 22.
Also on January 12, Bharat Biotech announced that it had signed an agreement with Preciosa Medicamentos for the supply of covaxine supplements to Brazil.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Saturday morning launched the world’s largest vaccination campaign. On the first day of the campaign, more than 1.91 lakh people across the country were given Oxford’s Kovishield, produced by the Serum Institute of India (SII) and a cocaine produced by Bharat Biotech.
